Furnace Installation in Ritzville

We size, install and start up new furnaces so your home heats evenly without short cycling or wasted fuel. One person handles your questions, the quote, the permit and the install day. Installation estimates are free, and you get a written quote before any work begins.

When a New Furnace Is the Right Call

A furnace earns replacement when repairs stop making sense. A cracked heat exchanger, a failed inducer motor on a unit near the end of its life, or a control board that keeps burning out on a 20-year-old system are all common tipping points. If yours can still be fixed for a fair price, we'll say so and point you to our furnace repair service instead.

When replacement is the answer, the size matters more than the brand. A furnace that is too big heats the house in short bursts, cycles off before the heat exchanger warms fully, and wears out its igniter and limit switch early. One that is too small runs nonstop on the coldest January nights. We work from a heat-loss calculation of your home, not from the label on the old unit.

The same person who walks your home for the estimate stays your contact through permit, install and cleanup, so you never have to explain the job twice.

What Your Furnace Installation Includes

Heat-loss calculation

We measure rooms, note window area, insulation and air leakage, and calculate the BTU load your home actually needs. That number sets the furnace size and blower capacity.

Efficiency options explained

We compare an 80% AFUE furnace, which vents through a metal flue, with a 95% or higher condensing model, which vents through PVC and drains condensate. We explain the venting changes each one needs so the quote has no surprises.

Removal of the old unit

We disconnect the gas, power and venting, cap what needs capping, and haul the old furnace away.

Gas, venting and electrical hookup

We connect the gas supply with a new shutoff and sediment trap, install venting to code, run the condensate line on high-efficiency units, and wire the thermostat. Each joint gets leak-tested before the burners fire.

Permit and inspection

We pull the required permit and schedule the inspection, then meet the inspector so you don't have to.

Start-up and setup

We measure gas pressure, temperature rise and static pressure, then set the blower speed to match your system. You see the readings before we leave.

Signs Your Furnace Is Due for Replacement

Cracked heat exchanger
A crack can let combustion gases, including carbon monoxide, into the air stream. On an older furnace this usually means replacement rather than repair.
Repairs piling up
A second or third major part failing in two winters is a pattern. We'll show you the repair cost next to a replacement quote so you can decide.
Rising gas or propane bills
Worn burners, a weak blower motor and an old 60% to 70% AFUE design all burn more fuel for the same heat.
Uneven rooms and short cycling
If the furnace starts and stops every few minutes, or back rooms stay cold, the unit may be oversized, failing, or both.
Yellow flame or soot
A lazy yellow flame or soot near the burners points to poor combustion. Shut the furnace off and have it checked before you run it again.

How Install Day Runs

  1. 1

    Estimate and written quote

Your contact visits, runs the load calculation, looks at venting and gas supply, and writes a quote that lists the furnace model, parts and labor line by line.

  2. 2

    Permit and scheduling

Once you approve, we file the permit and set an install date. You hear from the same person if anything changes.

  3. 3

    Protect, remove, set

We lay floor runners, shut off gas and power, remove the old unit and set the new furnace level on its base. Most swaps finish in a single day.

  4. 4

    Connect and test

Gas, venting, condensate and wiring go in, then we fire the furnace and record gas pressure, temperature rise and airflow readings.

  5. 5

    Walkthrough and cleanup

We show you the filter size, the thermostat settings and the condensate drain, then clean the work area and haul off the old equipment.

What Moves the Price of a New Furnace

Two homes with the same square footage can need very different installs. The quote depends on the equipment you choose and on how much work it takes to fit it safely in your space. We itemize every part of it in writing before anything starts.

Efficiency and burner type
Single-stage 80% AFUE furnaces cost the least up front. Two-stage and modulating condensing furnaces cost more but use less fuel and run quieter at low fire.
Venting changes
Moving from a metal flue to a condensing furnace means new PVC intake and exhaust runs through a wall or roof, plus a condensate drain. An orphaned water heater on the old flue may need its own liner.
Fuel and gas line
Natural gas and propane units use different orifices and settings. A longer or undersized gas line adds labor.
Location and access
A furnace in a tight crawlspace or attic takes more time and hands than one in an open basement or garage.
Permit and blower options
Permit fees are part of the quote, and a variable-speed ECM blower costs more than a standard motor while saving electricity.

Furnace Installation Questions

Can you reuse my existing thermostat?
Often, yes, if it supports the furnace you choose. A two-stage or modulating furnace needs a compatible thermostat to use its low-fire stage, so we check the wiring and model during the estimate and note any change on the quote.
Is a 95% furnace worth it over an 80%?
It depends on how long you plan to stay and how much fuel you burn. In a cold winter climate the fuel savings add up faster, but the venting work can raise the install cost. We run both options side by side so you can compare.
Will I be without heat for long?
Most replacements are done in one day, with heat back on by evening. If your old furnace fails outright in a cold snap, our emergency HVAC repair service can often keep it running until the new one goes in.
How do you decide the size?
We calculate your home's heat loss from room dimensions, insulation, windows and air leakage. The old furnace's rating is not a reliable guide, since many were oversized when installed.
Should I consider a heat pump instead?
It's worth a look. A heat pump can carry most of the heating load and add cooling, with the furnace as backup on the coldest nights. Our heat pumps page covers how that pairing works.
